Hello and welcome to our school website. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in December 2018 said Great Massingham School continues to be  good  in all areas.

Great Massingham is a Church of England School in the heart of a small village in North West Norfolk with a reputation for friendliness and a family-like atmosphere. Great Massingham C of E School is a happy place where we aim to help our children develop to become sociable and confident and to enjoy their work and do their best. We place great value on the close co-operation between parents and staff to ensure that every child achieves his or her potential and has the opportunity to develop their individual abilities and qualities.

We aim to develop and promote thoughtfulness and care for one another as core priorities. The Ofsted inspection in December 2018 judged the behaviour and safety of pupils to be good. The report states that  'The school ethos is central to its continued improvement. Behaviour is a strength of the school, where children are friendly and polite. Values such as respect, responsibility, reverence, perseverance and courage are communicated effectively and are understood by pupils and staff alike. These values are lived out by members of the school community…. The report goes on to say that pupils make strong progress because their teachers plan activities that are closely matched to their starting points… Pupils' enjoyment of writing is fuelled by the enthusiasm of their teachers.

We teach a topic based curriculum which encompasses all subject areas. Literacy Mathematics and Science are taught separately and are linked to the topic and ‘real life' situations as much as possible. This has proved to be a very useful tool in improving the enthusiasm and motivation of the children and offering a broad and balanced education. Ofsted December 2018 said,  'Teachers have a clear understanding of the needs of the pupils in their classes and this is reflected in their planning…. Teachers question pupils well, offer challenge and provide them with helpful advice about how to improve their work.'
